About Us

Dr. Kerry Garrity has been practicing in the Louisville area since graduating from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. To fulfill her dream of practicing quality medicine in a warm and friendly environment, Dr. Garrity and her husband opened their own small animal hospital in October of 2007.

Dr. Garrity is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

The Downtown Animal Hospital offers state of the art medical facilities (including digital radiographs and full in house laboratory) and treatments. As a dedicated member of the veterinary community, Dr. Garrity and The Downtown Animal Hospital enjoy working with various rescue organizations, The Woodstock Animal Foundation, the Animal Protection Agency and Saving Sunny. Her hobbies include volunteer work, traveling and spending time with family.

Kiley graduated from University Of South Carolina with a B.S. in Marine Science in 2004.

Kiley is our part time Vet Tech, she has been with The Downtown Animal Hospital since it opened in 2008.  She and Dr. Garrity have worked together for ten years in total. Currently, Kiley has eight animals, six cats ( Flick,  Alice, Hilary, Dexter, Midge, and Guido) and two dogs (Jaycee and Daisy) and all of them are Kiley's perfect little angels (except for when they're not). All of them were rescues, usually fosters or special needs cats that she couldn't bare to adopt out. Kiley has always been crazy about animals and the number of them she has just proves it.   Recently, Kiley and her husband added a two legged member to the family, her daughter Molly. When not taking care of all her animals, Kiley likes to travel, and take hikes in Kentucky's beautiful parks.

Andrea became our friendly Receptionist in early 2013 as she and her husband are transplants from the Great White North (her: Minnesota, him: Chicago).  Andrea attended school in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for Art History, so working in our historic hospital building combines her two loves - history and animals.  Andrea grew up with animals, but as a first time dog-owner of her own personal dog Zoey, Andrea understands the importance of the relationship and care of our fur-kids.  When not working at the hospital, Andrea enjoys visiting parks and spending time exploring the vibrant and eclectic Louisville community.

Zoe is our part-time Vet Tech Assistant, she is currently attending vet school out of state.  While Zoe has no cats, she more than makes up for it with a ball python and two dogs, a Great Pyrenees and Newfoundland, both rescues.

Jamie is our newest Vet Tech.  She has been in the field for 7 years, but has  been around and loved animals for the majority of her life.  She considers  her work not only a career, but a passion and couldn't see herself doing  anything else.  She loves nothing more than being not only a part of  everyday veterinary work, but also the helping of sick, injured and helpless  animals.  She has 6 dogs  (Jade, Kato, Sophia, Keylow, Sam and Rico) and 4  cats (Phat Boy, Bonez, Charlee, and Mama) at home, all of which found her  (each with a personal story she could tell you).  When not working, you can  find her strapping on her cowboy hat and boots and making her way to  every concert she can!

Lauren is our part-time Kennel Assistant.  She is a newlywed transplant to Louisville from Louisiana while her husband attends seminary school,  and she herself is attending San Juan College to become a Veterinary Technician.  She has one dog - a Great Pyrenees mix named Tater - back at home.  Outside of work,  Lauren loves to cook and spend time with family and friends.

Desiree recently joined us in September as our new part time receptionist.  While Desiree is new to us, she is not new to the field having worked for seventeen years in animal hospitals both here and in California.  When she is not working here or at Metropolitan Vetrinary Emergency and Specialist, Desiree loves taking care of her two dogs and two cats (all rescues), fostering small fur babies, reading and cooking.
